Milkshake IPAs are part of the haze-craze and they’re often packed with fruity fun. Modist Brewing does them wonderfully with their Shook Milkshake IPA series. Shook Pineapple Milkshake IPA is one of the best fruity friends from Modist Brewing.
Shook Pineapple Milkshake IPA
Far too often, it seems the fruit additions to beers are an afterthought. Instead, Modist Brewing has been very good about creating their Shook Milkshake IPA series as something that allows them to showcase the particular fruit involved.
Shook Pineapple Milkshake IPA has been done before and it’s back again because it’s so good. Milk sugar, vanilla beans, pineapple, and Sultana hops come together to create delicious drink.
A bubbly white head sits atop a light yellow straw brew. The foam settles, and leaves the walls of the snifter covered in dancing lacing.
Fresh pineapple nose, with touches of creamy vanilla bean and just a hint of bubblegum. The vanilla becomes more apparent as time goes on, and pairs wonderfully with sweet pineapple.
Super smooth malt slides across the tongue, without much mention made (it’s mainly here to hold up the hops and fruit fun). Boom, there’s a big pineapple kick. Fresh, fruity, without the sickening acidic sweetness found in too many pineapple beers. Vanilla bean adds creaminess and helps to balance the sweetness, with milk sugar drying things nicely, and the Sultana hops complimenting the pineapple and tropical notes from the fruit addition.
It dries out, with creamy vanilla ushering the pineapple out on the aftertaste.
Shook Me All Night Long
Modist has done a wonderful job with the Shook Milkshake IPA series. They highlight the fruit, while showcasing the entire wonderfulness of what milkshake IPA is all about. This pineapple version is one of their best, with fresh fruity flavor, none of the acidic bite, and a beautiful blending with the vanilla bean and milk sugar.
