Schell's Brewing Burton Ale

The fourth release in the Schell’s Brewing Stag Series, Burton Ale brings back a style lost in most parts.  A nice blend of smooth malt with nice happiness and a touch of woodsy flavor.  Dry hopped and aged for 3 months before release this brew is on the bigger side, weighing in at 8% ABV.  Nice and traditional to the style with notes of dark fruit and a subtle, dry sweetness.  So far everything out of the Stag Series has been very nice stuff.  It’s interesting to see Schell’s pushing the envelope by brewing traditional old styles that could still be called a bit extreme in current times.  I’m looking forward to the next brews to come out of the great series of craft beers.
