Even a global pandemic couldn’t stop the continued pace of the craft beer world. Styles continue to evolve. New ingredients and brewing techniques appear on the scene constantly and brewers keep pushing the bounds of what beer can be. If all this is a bit much to keep up with, you aren’t alone. Maybe it’s time to take a moment for something more manageable. It’s time for Modist Brewing Slow It Up Oak-Aged Pilsner.
Slow It Up
There’s nothing wrong with the ever-changing world of craft beer. It’s just that it can get exhausting trying to keep up with what’s happening all the time. Sometimes we want something a bit more simple, without compromising the flavorful imbibing we demand. Slow It Up offers that in bundles.
A clear straw yellow liquid fills the glass and a frothy white foam head forms. With time the foam slowly settles, leaving a nice cap continuing to cover the top of the brew and plenty of lacing clinging to the walls of the glass.
The aroma is lovely, with biscuity notes of pilsner malt, a touch of bready sweetness, and a nice note of vanilla. There’s just a very distant note of sulfur, perfect for the style.
Bohemian Pilsner malt and North Star Pils malt make up the body here, with light bready flavor, a slight sweetness, and a smooth finish. Hull Melon, Triple Pearl, & Citra Cryo hops offer up just a bit of fruitiness, a hint of grassiness, and a touch of floral flavor. Aging in the oak foeders made this lager crisp and clean, with a hint of oak tannin and a bit of creaminess to the mouthfeel.
It’s Okay To Slow Down
Fast-paced beers fill the shelves and fly off just as quickly as they’re released. While we all fall for the hype from time to time. The truth is that there are tons of awesome beer sitting on the shelves that don’t give you diabetes in a single glass, carry more pulp than a glass of fresh OJ, or require a heavy meal before even approaching a can by yourself. Pilsners are perfect for any time and offer plenty to enjoy without all the huff and puff of those hyped-up releases.
Grab a 4-pack or two of Modist Brewing Slow It Up Oak-Aged Pilsner and take some time to enjoy the wonderful complexity that can be created without the use of silly adjuncts, heinous hop levels, or ABV that’d destroy even Andre The Giant.
