Berliners have always been benefitted by berries. The tartness interacts with fruity flavors wonderfully and that’s exactly what BlackStack Brewing Casual Friday creates.
Casual Friday from BlackStack Brewing
The first of their foeder program to go into cans, BlackStack Brewing Casual Friday is foeder-fermented Berliner base that’s blended with 4lbs per gallon of black currents, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. Can-conditioned, so it should continue to develop with time, but enjoyed it fresh for all the berry bounty.
Pours a brilliant deep red with a small bubbly reddish-white head that quickly dissipates and leaves no lacing behind.
Berry notes and tart Berliner in the nose. Just a hint of sour acid aroma and a touch of black currant jam.
Big berry flavors upfront, with blackberries and raspberry coming through nicely, along with a touch of blueberry in the middle, and a hint of black currant on the end. Lots of berry flavors without the big sweetness. Berliner tartness cuts through with an assertive bite and helps to clean the sweet berries from your tongue.
Fruity Tart Treat
Pounds of fresh fruit bring big berry flavors and the sour Berliner base cuts the sweetness with tart and sour swiftness. Casual Friday is a delicious fruit brew that shouldn’t just be saved for the end of the work week.
BlackStack Brewing kicked off their foeder-fermented series with this delicious drinking Casual Friday. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
