Every Friday at 4pm, Grumpy’s NE taps a cask. Each week the cask changes with many of them coming from local Minnesota breweries. A couple weeks back, the featured cask was Surly CynicAle. This particular cask of brew had been aged on oak and vanilla beans. The oak and vanilla played nicely with light flavors of both coming through a bit in the nose and aftertaste. In addition to offering a cask on Fridays, Pat cooks up some tasty treats for customers to show his appreciation for all of us (yes they’re free). If you haven’t been to Grumpy’s NE or haven’t been in for a cask Friday, I highly recommend you add it to your calendar. Sometimes the weekly cask is posted on their Facebook page here, but most times things are too busy to keep it updated. Many times I post the cask offering on my Twitter feed so follow me to find out what brews await this week.
