Surly Brewing Smoke, their big baltic porter made with smoked malt from Bamberg, Germany then aged on oak, is a wonderful brew for those looking for a smoky treat. Plenty of smoke and roasty flavors along with a nice bit of alcohol in this complex brew. Before their closing at the end of 2011, I made my way to Cafe Twenty-Eight as many times a possible and enjoyed a number of glasses of Smoke along with some killer food. It paired wonderfully with their pork in adabo. This brew drinks even better as it warms in your glass until it’s gone leaving you wanting another glass.
