Pumpkin beers have gone for the season but they’re a style people seem to either love or hate. Some are overly spiced with pumpkin spice, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and other spice. Others get their flavor more from the use of pumpkin. Canned, fresh, or roasted, each brewery does things a bit differently. Flat Earth Brewing Mummy Train Pumpkin Ale is one that is much more pumpkin than pumpkin spice. This is the type of pumpkin brew I like a lot more and this is a very nice one. Big pumpkin fruit flavor with a nice light pumpkin spice flavor that has notes of cinnamon and allspice with a touch of nutmeg. I’d had it when it was super fresh back at the Autumn Brew Review and really enjoyed the fresh hoppy notes that came through very fell over the pumpkin flavor. Those notes had disappeared a couple months later when the beer hit bottles but it was still very nice. Check it out next year when they pumpkin ales roll around again.
